Terms of Service

Effective August 10, 2026

These terms govern your use of PowCall (powcall.com), a snow forecast service. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. What PowCall is

PowCall provides probabilistic snow forecasts, accuracy tracking, and powder-day alerts for ski resorts, generated from public weather-model data (NOAA GEFS, ECMWF, NBM, and others) and machine-learning models, calibrated against public station observations (NOAA/USDA SNOTEL, GHCN) and other sources. It is an independent forecasting product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any ski resort, resort operator, or pass network (Epic, Ikon, or otherwise).

Forecasts are estimates, not guarantees. Snowfall forecasting is inherently uncertain, especially at longer lead times. Do not rely on PowCall as your sole basis for decisions involving safety, travel, avalanche risk, or backcountry conditions. Always check official resort conditions, local avalanche forecasts, and National Weather Service guidance before making decisions that depend on weather.

2. Accuracy claims and comparisons

Where we publish accuracy statistics or comparisons against other forecast sources (see our accuracy scorecard), those figures are computed against a stated methodology, over a stated sample, and are updated on a rolling basis as new verified observations come in. Past accuracy does not guarantee future accuracy at any resort or lead time.

3. Email alerts

Powder alerts are opt-in, delivered on a best-effort basis, and depend on the underlying forecast/observation pipeline being available. We do not guarantee alert delivery timing or that every qualifying snowfall event will trigger an alert. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any alert email.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Reasonable personal, non-commercial use of the public API is fine โ€” reach out (ยง7) if you want to do something larger.

5. No warranty

PowCall is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that forecasts will be accurate.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PowCall and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service โ€” including damages related to travel plans, missed powder days, or reliance on a forecast that didn't verify.

7. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will update the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
